Job Description
Vege Labs LLC is seeking an experienced R&D Lab Technician & Sample Support professional to join our Research & Development team. This is a hands-on laboratory position supporting the development, testing, and preparation of personal care and botanical products. The role combines R&D laboratory support with Vege Tech sample preparation, providing an opportunity for an experienced technician to work across different laboratory and small-batch processes. The successful candidate will have hands-on laboratory experience and understand the importance of accurate weighing, batch consistency, controlled processing, testing, documentation, organization, and following established procedures. The ideal candidate will bring a solid technical foundation to the role and be able to learn and apply Vege Labs' specific products, formulas, equipment, and processes. Key ResponsibilitiesR&D Laboratory Prepare laboratory-scale batches and prototypes according to established formulas, batch instructions, and direction from R&D Chemists. Accurately weigh, measure, and stage raw materials for laboratory batches. Perform hands-on processing including mixing, heating, cooling, homogenizing, blending, and other processing techniques appropriate to the formulation. Assist with formulation and reformulation projects by preparing prototypes and samples for evaluation. Perform basic physical and chemical evaluations including pH, viscosity, appearance, odor, color, and other applicable testing. Observe and document batch characteristics and communicate unusual results, inconsistencies, or processing concerns to the R&D Chemist. Prepare samples for customer review, internal evaluation, QC, stability studies, and other R&D requirements. Maintain accurate batch records, test results, sample records, and other R&D documentation in accordance with Good Documentation Practices. Maintain organization and inventory of R&D raw materials, laboratory samples, supplies, and equipment. Assist with pilot batches and scale-up activities as directed. Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure tools and work areas are properly cleaned, sanitized, and ready for use. Follow GMP, safety, quality, and documentation requirements at all times. Vege Tech Sample Support Prepare small-batch botanical extracts, tinctures, powders, concentrates, and other sample materials according to established formulas and procedures. Accurately weigh and measure botanicals, powders, solvents, and other raw materials. Perform processing activities such as soaking, mixing, agitation, filtration, blending, and heating. Perform applicable in-process evaluations including appearance, aroma, color, pH, yield, moisture, and other basic observations. Maintain accurate records of sample formulas, weights, processing steps, results, and sample identification. Label, package, organize, and track samples for customer review, internal evaluation, and retention. Maintain sample inventory and track outgoing samples. Identify and communicate discrepancies or issues with materials, processing, or sample results. Clean and maintain small-scale extraction equipment, laboratory tools, and work areas. Coordinate with the Vege Tech R&D Chemist regarding sample requirements and timelines. Request raw materials and supplies needed to complete assigned sample work.
