Full-Time Position Overview California Cultured is seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Technician to help develop and refine plant cell culture bioprocessing. The ideal candidate will have cell culture experience at both laboratory and commercial scales. This role is central to our operations, focusing on the end-to-end bioreactor process, from inoculum preparation to monitoring and sampling and harvest. We are looking for an enthusiastic team player with expert aseptic technique who is excited to work in a fast-paced, innovative setting. This position reports to our Bioprocessing Lead and involves close collaboration across multiple functions. Core Responsibilities Perform process and production activities according to established procedures and work instructions. Prepare materials, reagents, and equipment for cell culture runs and harvests. Accurately document activities contemporaneously in accordance to quality and data standards. Promptly escalate deviations, atypical observations, equipment concerns, or documentation discrepancies with concise communications to supervisor. Assist in troubleshooting operational issues to minimize downtime and maintain productivity. Participate in equipment calibration, preventative maintenance coordination, and process verification activities. Follow all applicable safety, environmental, and quality procedures and requirements Maintain a clean and organized working environment. Perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor degree in a relevant scientific field or Associate's degree with 1+ year equivalent work experience.
Experience and Skills:
Proven experience in a laboratory setting with hands-on expertise in lab equipment and techniques. Mechanical aptitude to operate and troubleshoot laboratory to pilot-scale bioreactors or fermentors (training will be provided). Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, and the desire to learn new techniques. Excellent communication skills for clear and collaborative team interactions. Candidates with brewery experience will be considered.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 pounds regularly. Ability to work in laboratory and manufacturing environments. Ability to wear required PPE including gloves, lab coats, hair coverings, and safety equipment as required.
Pay:
$22.00 - $26.00 per hour
