Where You'll Work St. Elizabeth Hospital, located in Fort Morgan, Colorado, is a Level 3 Trauma Center and an American College of Cardiology Accredited Chest Pain Center serving northeastern Colorado. Providing care through-out the region, St. Elizabeth Hospital provides cardiology, maternal, emergency, surgical, pediatrics, and acute care inpatient services in addition to the multitude of subspecialists in our specialty clinic. At 50 beds, St. Elizabeth is the region's referral center serving a wide span of northeastern Colorado. Since 1952, St. Elizabeth has been serving the community in Morgan County which is one of the most diverse counties in Colorado speaking more than 28 languages. Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), you will perform all levels of general testing within the analytical laboratory, applying a high level of technical knowledge to department testing and clinical relevance. Every day you will function consistently in a self-directed manner, utilizing your expertise to conduct a variety of laboratory analyses and contribute to accurate diagnostic information. To be successful in this role, you will possess strong technical knowledge in laboratory testing, complex problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently to ensure the ongoing quality and relevance of departmental testing. Performs cytogenetic testing with a high level of competency according to established protocols. Generates and reports results which are used for making accurate diagnoses and prognoses which influences patient care and management. Responsible for accurate and timely result reporting, including communication and documentation of critical results, and utilizes critical thinking skills and exercises independent judgment to correlate and interpret data. Responsible for operation, maintenance, troubleshooting of instruments and appropriate documentation of activities. Receives specimens, assesses priority, assures appropriate specimen identification, and appropriate specimen type, which may include ordering and processing of hospital registered and outreach patients. Completes required QC and maintenance, consistently recognizing variances and documenting appropriate corrective action, and participates in detecting and documenting occurrences that deviate from defined procedures. We are offering up to $8,000 relocation assistance to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements Job Requirements Required Associate's Degree in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA OR High school diploma/GED and completed an official military medical laboratory course and held the military enlisted occupational speciality of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Lab Technician) Must be appropriately trained in clinical laboratory science as judged by the Director of the Clinical Laboratory Preferred MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification
