Specimen Processing Technician ChristianaCare is seeking a Part-time Specimen Processing Technician to join our laboratory team. In this role, you will receive, label, and process patient specimens for analysis, ensure accurate data entry, and prepare samples for transport and testing in accordance with strict safety and quality standards. You will collaborate with technologists, nurses, and couriers to support timely, reliable diagnostic results. Receive, verify, and accession patient specimens according to laboratory protocols Accurately label and prioritize specimens for testing and reference lab send-outs Enter and verify patient and specimen data in the laboratory information system (LIS) Prepare, aliquot, and store specimens under proper conditions to maintain integrity Follow infection control, biosafety, and OSHA guidelines for specimen handling Communicate with nurses, providers, couriers, and technologists regarding specimen issues Identify and resolve basic specimen problems (mislabeled, inadequate volume, etc.) Maintain a clean, organized work area and adequate inventory of supplies Support quality control and documentation requirements for inspections and audits Uphold ChristianaCare values of compassion, teamwork, and respect in all interactions Specimen processing Laboratory information systems (LIS) Phlebotomy familiarity Sample labeling and tracking Data entry accuracy Infection control and safety protocols Specimen storage and transport procedures HIPAA compliance Basic quality control procedures Time management in fast-paced lab Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) preferred ASCP Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) or equivalent a plus Basic life support (BLS) preferred OSHA bloodborne pathogens training
