Position Summary The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing routine laboratory procedures and supporting the healthcare team in providing accurate and timely diagnostic testing for patients. This position works closely with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, and other clinical staff to ensure proper specimen collection, processing, testing, documentation, and handling. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Collect, label, process, and prepare patient specimens including blood, urine, swabs, and other clinical samples. Perform routine laboratory tests and point-of-care testing according to established procedures. Operate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies. Follow proper specimen handling, storage, and transportation procedures. Accurately document and report laboratory test results. Perform quality-control procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory work area. Follow all OSHA, CLIA, infection-control, and office safety policies and procedures. Monitor laboratory supplies and notify management when inventory needs to be replenished. Communicate abnormal or critical results promptly to the appropriate physician or clinical staff. Assist with phlebotomy and other specimen collection procedures as needed. Protect patient privacy and maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Assist with general clinical and administrative duties as needed. Participate in maintaining accurate patient records and laboratory documentation. Perform other duties as assigned by the physician or office manager. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a laboratory technician, medical laboratory, phlebotomy, or related training program preferred. Previous experience in a physician's office, medical clinic, laboratory, or healthcare setting preferred. Phlebotomy experience and certification preferred, if applicable. Knowledge of basic laboratory procedures, specimen handling, and infection-control practices. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Good organizational and time-management skills. Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a healthcare team. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times.
Pay:
From $17.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
