Job Description
Analytical Laboratory TechnicianJob Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Analytical Laboratory Technician to perform testing of botanical raw materials and finished herbal extract products used in dietary supplements. This position will primarily involve the operation of HPTLC, ICP-OES, and FTIR instrumentation. The technician will perform established analytical procedures, prepare samples and standards, document results, maintain laboratory records in a cGMP environment, and assist with instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. This laboratory tests non-cannabis botanical ingredients and dietary supplement products . The position is not associated with cannabis or marijuana testing. Our company manufactures botanical dietary supplements (herbal extracts). Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and background check. Candidates with a chemistry degree are preferred; however, applicants with a degree in another relevant scientific field and a demonstrated ability to learn analytical laboratory methods will also be considered. Responsibilities Perform identity and quality testing of botanical ingredients and finished herbal extract products Operate HPTLC, ICP-OES, and FTIR instrumentation Prepare samples, standards, reagents, and calibration solutions Perform routine instrument calibration, system checks, and preventative maintenance Review and document analytical results accurately Maintain complete and organized laboratory records Follow established laboratory procedures, SOPs, and safety requirements Assist with troubleshooting instruments and investigating unusual or out-of-specification results Maintain laboratory supplies, reference standards, and reagents Support the development, verification, and improvement of analytical methods as experience increases Qualifications Bachelor's or Associate degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, pharmaceutical science, or another relevant scientific discipline Previous laboratory experience preferred Experience with HPTLC, ICP-OES, FTIR, or similar analytical instrumentation is highly desirable Ability to learn new analytical techniques and instrumentation Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation Basic understanding of laboratory calculations, dilutions, standards, and calibration Ability to follow written procedures and work independently after training Strong organizational and problem-solving skills Preferred Experience Analytical testing of botanical ingredients, dietary supplements, pharmaceuticals, food products, or natural products ICP-OES sample preparation or acid digestion HPTLC botanical identification FTIR material identification Analytical method development, verification, or validation Experience working in a cGMP or
