Full Job Description Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing accurate and timely clinical laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements, including proper specimen handling and processing, test analysis, quality control, equipment operation, calibration, maintenance, and documentation of patient test results. The Lab Technician follows laboratory policies for proficiency testing and corrective actions, identifies and addresses issues that may affect test performance or result accuracy, and promptly reports unresolved concerns to appropriate laboratory leadership.
CORE ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results; Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples; Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed; Follow the laboratory's established corrective action policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance; Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the technical consultant, clinical consultant or director; and Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma Employment in this position is contingent upon verification of all CLIA-required education, training, experience, licenses, and certifications.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSE OR REGISTRATION
None
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS OR ABILITIES
Proficient in clinical laboratory procedures, including specimen collection, analysis, quality control, equipment operation, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards (e.g., CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA) preferred. Strong foundational knowledge in medical terminology, anatomy, data entry, and infection prevention, with the ability to accurately interpret and report laboratory results using LIS and EMR systems preferred.
