Job Summary Position Overview:

We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in microbiology laboratory procedures and have an associate's degree or higher in a science related field. The candidate must be proficient working with MS office-based programs particularly creating and navigating Excel formulas. Additionally, the candidate would have excellent organizational skills, self-direction, and can handle varying workloads in a timely manner. The position is responsible for the laboratory tasks associated with bacterial and mycotoxin test kits and ELISA assays. Functions start with the receipt, logging in and initial preparation of client samples. Throughout the day, the technician is responsible for preparing reagents and media used in analysis, analyzing samples and determining results using statistical analysis. Additional responsibilities include daily cleaning and maintenance of equipment, workstations and lab according to quality control protocols.

Responsibilities:

Ø Conduct testing using pre-made kits and in-house methodology Ø Log in and prepare client samples for analysis Ø Prepare reagents and media Ø Use statistical Excel worksheets in determining test results. Ø Maintain accurate laboratory records, including experimental observations and results Ø Operate and maintain laboratory equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures Ø Maintain in-house culture collection Ø Follow safety protocols and maintain a sanitized and organized laboratory environment Ø Collaborating with team members on workflow, shared laboratory spaces and troubleshooting Ø Follow manuals and instructions.

Qualifications:

Ø Must pass a federal background check Ø Associate or bachelor's degree in a scientific field (microbiology, biology preferred) Ø Familiarity and proven work experience in a laboratory setting required Ø Must have computer skills Ø Cell culture experience required, including cell counting, cell passaging, and cell density calculations for seed plates Ø Cytotoxicity assay experience preferred Ø Attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions Ø Excellent organizational and time management skills Ø Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Ø Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols Ø Ability to adapt to changing workloads
