Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Histology Technician (Histo Tech) to join our laboratory team on both part-time and or full-time basis. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in histological laboratory techniques, tissue sample preparation, and pathology testing. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination, ensuring adherence to laboratory procedures, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Your expertise will contribute significantly to accurate diagnoses and research outcomes, supporting patient care and scientific advancement. Responsibilities Prepare tissue samples for histological examination through processes such as embedding, sectioning, staining, and mounting using laboratory tissue sectioning techniques. Perform laboratory tissue sample preparation following established standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure specimen integrity. Conduct pathology testing including immunohistochemistry and other immunological laboratory techniques to assist in diagnostic processes. Operate and maintain medical laboratory equipment with precision, ensuring calibration and proper functioning in accordance with CLIA regulations. Collect, process, and handle specimens accurately while adhering to aseptic techniques and laboratory safety protocols. Document all procedures meticulously within Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) to ensure traceability and compliance. Maintain knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology to enhance specimen analysis accuracy. Support patient care activities by understanding specimen collection procedures such as phlebotomy when applicable. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, CLIA regulations, and laboratory standard operating procedures at all times. Requirements Proven experience in clinical or research laboratories with a focus on histology or pathology specimen processing. Strong knowledge of laboratory tissue sectioning, histological techniques, and laboratory procedures related to pathology testing. Familiarity with medical terminology, laboratory information systems (LIS), and medical laboratory equipment. Experience with immunohistochemistry and immunological techniques used in histology laboratories. Ability to perform laboratory tissue sample preparation accurately while maintaining aseptic technique standards. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology principles relevant to tissue analysis. Prior hospital or healthcare facility experience is highly desirable. Excellent attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills for managing multiple specimens efficiently. Effective communication skills suitable for collaborating within multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment. Clinical Laboratory Technician (TC) - Histology. For moderate-complexity work. ASCP HT or an associate degree. Certification or training in phlebotomy or related specimen collection methods is a plus.
