Responsibilities Prepare patients for sleep studies by explaining procedures, performing physical examinations, and ensuring comfort throughout testing. Operate and monitor polysomnography (PSG) equipment, including EEG, respiratory devices, and other diagnostic tools to record sleep patterns and vital signs accurately. Conduct manual sleep test scoring to analyze data collected during sleep studies, identifying abnormalities related to sleep-wake disorders. Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR) systems efficiently, documenting patient information, test results, and treatment plans with precision. Assist in the setup and operation of medical equipment such as CPAP and BiPAP machines, ensuring proper functioning during sleep studies. Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to evaluate diagnostic results and support treatment planning for patients with sleep medicine concerns. Provide exceptional patient care by addressing questions, monitoring comfort levels, and ensuring safety throughout the testing process. Qualifications Certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or equivalent credential required. Proven experience working with sleep studies (polysomnography testing), including familiarity with PSG monitoring protocols. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and the pathophysiology of sleep-wake disorders. Experience operating polysomnography equipment, electroencephalography (EEG), respiratory therapy devices like CPAP/BiPAP machines, and medical equipment operation skills. Ability to perform physical examinations and assess vital signs accurately in a clinical setting. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems for documentation and data management. Excellent patient care skills with a focus on comfort, safety, and effective communication. Knowledge of sleep medicine principles, diagnostic evaluation processes, and the use of electroencephalography in sleep testing.
