Job Description

Job Title:
Lab Technician Job Description As a Lab Technician, you will perform all in-house testing and enter results into the ERP system or send them to the designated personnel. You will monitor raw material and packaging component receipts, perform required tests, and release them in the ERP system. Additionally, you will prepare samples for testing at outside labs, prepare reagents, and maintain lab cleanliness and equipment. Responsibilities Perform all in-house testing and enter results in the ERP system. Monitor raw material and packaging component receipts and perform required tests. Release materials in the ERP system. Prepare samples for external lab testing. Prepare reagents and maintain laboratory cleanliness. Calibrate and periodically check lab equipment. Monitor lab supply inventory and initiate orders. Review test results, notebooks, and lab worksheets promptly. Update spreadsheets and databases to track test results and quality. Communicate effectively with production and lab personnel about in-process quality results. Conduct regular lab inspections. Draft, review, and revise SOPs and worksheets. Train lab and production personnel on lab procedures. Communicate with outside labs, customers, and suppliers. Execute additional responsibilities and projects as required. Essential Skills Strong knowledge of Chemistry and Lab techniques. Experience with pH testing, GMP standards, and manual testing. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Ability to perform under the lab environment conditions. Technical writing and quality assurance skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or related fields. Preferred background in Chemistry or Organic Chemistry. SOP and documentation experience. Good communication skills and teamwork ability. Candidates with a 2-year Science degree and Chemistry lab experience using HPLC and wet chemistry in a food lab will be considered. Work Environment The work environment is within a manufacturing facility, requiring comfort in a plant setting. The lab team consists of 9 members rotating between three labs. Work locations are on the SW side of Cedar Rapids. Safety glasses and potentially steel-toed shoes/boots are required. This is a GMP environment with specific dress code requirements including no contacts, jewelry above the waist, or nail polish. Training and normal hours are day shifts from 8-4 or 7-3, with training lasting 4-6 weeks. After training, there may be opportunities for a 4x10 schedule with a rotating day off. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
