Job Description We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in plant sampling, DNA extraction, high-throughput PCR, and laboratory inventory management and a proven ability to support laboratory, greenhouse, and field research by executing standardized protocols with accurate documentation .

Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. This role is 100% site-based with occasional driving required.

Responsibilities:

Assist technical personnel with general laboratory operations and routine research tasks under supervisor guidance. Perform plant sampling, DNA extraction, and high-throughput PCR using accepted methods and training. Manage laboratory inventory and sample tracking to maintain accurate records. Support work across laboratory, greenhouse, and field settings, including occasional local driving.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

BS in Science (Chemistry, Biology, or related field) strongly preferred. Candidates working toward a BS with prior lab experience will be considered. Hands-on experience with DNA extraction and PCR. Proficiency with basic computer programs, including Microsoft Excel. 1+ years of relevant experience in a research laboratory environment.

Preferred Skills:

Experience working in greenhouse and field research settings. Familiarity with sample inventory systems and standard operating procedures.

Safety and Compliance:

Adhere to Environmental Health and Safety standards and site policies. Use prescribed safety procedures and appropriate PPE.

Additional Skills:

Strong written and verbal communication with effective documentation of results. Good organization with the ability to follow SOPs and meet timelines. Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
