A Medical Laboratory Technician helps with the performance of laboratory tests in toxicology, chemistry, hematology, immunology, and microbiology laboratories, which provide information for medical patient diagnosis and treatment. Sets up, operates, and maintains laboratory equipment, makes observations, and calculates and records results; receives, types, tests, and records blood bank inventories.

Job Description

Description:
Performs a variety of clinical laboratory tests, procedures and related duties according to established standards and regulations for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. He/she will work with self-discipline, good judgment, and considerable independence while following established standards of practice. Day-to-day duties include quality control, quality assurance, and instrument maintenance. He/she must be proficient in assigned areas and willing to learn new technology.

Approximately 60
  • 75 hours/pay period.
Schedule :
3
  • 5 days/week: Monday
  • Friday. Starting time between 6 AM
  • 9 PM with Rotating shifts.
Includes weekends and call rotation shared with 10 other techs. On-call room available in hospital for overnight stays.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science or equivalent. Education must meet the requirements defined by
CLIA. MLS
(ASCP) or MLT(ASCP) certification preferred.
Other:
He/she must work well with patients and staff in the utmost professional and confidential manner. Flexibility in job duties is necessary. He/she must be a good communicator and team player.
