Monday-Friday or Monday, Wednesday and Friday only. About Us Eastern Iowa A.I, Inc. - Family owned and operated since 1997. Eastern Iowa AI is committed to producing high-quality porcine genetics through industry-leading animal care, semen processing, and customer service. We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and accuracy of semen processing for customers across the swine industry. Position Summary The Boar Stud Laboratory Technician is responsible for processing, evaluating, packaging, and maintaining the quality of boar semen while following strict laboratory protocols and biosecurity procedures. This role requires excellent attention to detail, the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to producing high-quality products. Essential Responsibilities Evaluate semen quality using laboratory equipment and established protocols. Process semen into customer-specific doses. Prepare, label, package, and store semen for shipment.
Perform microscope evaluations including:
Motility, Morphology & Concentration Prepare laboratory media and supplies. Maintain accurate production and quality assurance records. Calibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment. Follow all SOPs, quality control, and biosecurity procedures. Assist with inventory management and laboratory organization. Work closely with collection technicians and management to meet daily production goals. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary laboratory. Qualifications Dependable with a strong work ethic. Laboratory experience preferred but not required. Agricultural or livestock experience is a plus. Strong attention to detail. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to work as part of a team. Basic computer skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Lift up to 50 pounds. Work in a laboratory environment with repetitive hand movements. Follow strict hygiene and biosecurity protocols. Preferred Skills Experience working with microscopes. Experience with laboratory documentation. Knowledge of swine reproduction. Strong problem-solving abilities. Ability to maintain accuracy while working efficiently.
Experience:
Passion for the livestock industry is a plus; however, no experience is necessary and we will train the right person for the job.
