Job Description

Who we are: Premium Guard, Inc, a privately held company, was established in 1996. We are a leading supplier of private label solutions in the automotive aftermarket. Our focus is on designing, manufacturing and distributing products for automotive, diesel, power-sports and specialty filter markets. We are excited to announce that we're hiring a Lab Technician- Filtration Lab for our manufacturing center Albion, IL . The Lab Technician is primarily responsible for performing filter tests per ISO, SAE, and other standards or instructions as scheduled in the Lab Test Request system and document results. Testing may include prototype or test sample builds, materials testing, filter testing on stands or bench top equipment, equipment maintenance, and component or part procurement. Key Responsibilities Operates and maintains test stands and test equipment, including stand setup, tear-down, diagnosis, and calibration. Perform or arrange for basic repairs of test equipment. Purchase repair parts and consumable test materials. Prepares, analyzes, and archives test samples. Builds prototype or test sample filters as required. Organizes, analyzes, and documents test data in appropriate test reports. Documents complete and accurate results of tests and procedures used. Provides technical interface with engineers, quality, and sales personnel regarding testing. Completes assigned lab tests or projects independently in timely manner. Monitors routine lab operations and make corrections in case of nonconformance. Drives process improvement efforts for maximizing the effectiveness and contributions of the Filtration Lab. Provides training in areas of major technical expertise. Maintains safe and organized work areas. Recognizes potentially hazardous situations, both inside and outside of direct area of responsibility, and take appropriate measures to correct. Assists other lab personnel in monitoring or performing tests. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education or experience with Materials Engineering a plus. Strong mechanical skills. Good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, instrumentation & electronics. Ability to troubleshoot test equipment using scientific problem solving methods. Good understanding of HS&E and 5S/Lean concepts. PC proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite. Strong bias for action, good interpersonal skills, and customer focused. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Effectively communicates complex information such as calculations, technical explanations, interpretation of results, etc. Education and Experience 2 year degree in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience. 2 - 5 years Laboratory technician experience with set-up and operation on variety of fluid component Test Equipment Systems.
