Job Description

Job Title:
Lab Technician Job Description As a Lab Technician, you will perform sensory, physical, and chemical tests on finished products to ensure they meet established specifications. You will evaluate Bills of Material (BOM) for completeness and proper documentation, record test data, and maintain laboratory work lists in the LIMS system for timely release of finished products. You will also report nonconformance with immediate corrective actions in the LIMS system. Responsibilities Conduct sensory, physical, and chemical tests on finished products. Evaluate Bills of Material (BOM) for completeness and documentation accuracy. Record and manage test data using the LIMS system. Report nonconformance and initiate corrective actions. Inspect manufacturing, storage equipment, and sanitation cleaning. Participate in check sample programs and internal proficiency programs. Follow GMPs and GLPs and utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Assist with raw material testing, COA reviews, and COA filing as needed. Inspect finished product packaging for correct labels and configurations. Approve and apply final wrap using automated equipment. Perform wet chemistry product testing and equipment inspections. Conduct audits and inspections on the manufacturing/shipping floor. Rotate between laboratory and floor responsibilities, with 70% of time spent in the lab and 30% on the floor. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field. 6-12 months of experience in quality assurance/control/testing. Experience in a laboratory environment, which can include academic settings. Proficiency in wet chemistry techniques. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and communicate effectively. Fluency in English, both spoken and written. No food allergies, as taste testing is required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with manufacturing processes. Familiarity with testing methods such as viscosity, pH, and sample analysis. Possession of a Bachelor's degree with relevant experience or an Associate's degree with 2 years' experience in food processing. Work Environment This position involves working on a 2nd shift schedule from Monday to Friday, 2-10 pm, with training on 1st shift for the first two months. There is potential for a shift to 1st shift after training. The role is contract-based until headcount approval for full-time employment is received. You will encounter exposure to chemicals and solvents, and some lifting of materials up to 50 lbs may be required. The work requires a low level of physical activity, but tasks include tasting various food allergens and animal-based products. The work environment may involve exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and the noise level is usually moderate. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
