AllSTEM Connections is seeking a Genomics Technician to work in Chicago, IL . This is a 6-month contract position. Possible extension/temp-to-hire. Hourly rate is up to $41.91/hour .

M-F, 8AM - 5PM. SUMMARY

The Genomics Technician will support a research laboratory with next-generation sequencing (NGS) sample intake, quality control, sample processing, and sequencing operations. The position will operate laboratory and sequencing equipment, support research projects, maintain technical and administrative documentation, and communicate with internal teams and facility clients. The technician may also provide support to other laboratory teams based on workload and project needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Receive and process NGS samples, including sample intake, quality control, and preparation for sequencing. Operate sample QC equipment, including Fragment Analyzer, Bioanalyzer, Qubit, and qPCR instruments. Operate sequencing platforms, including Illumina NovaSeq and Element AVITI. Operate additional genomics platforms as directed by laboratory leadership. Perform administrative processing for new work and projects, including associated client communications. Provide technical and administrative support for research projects. Analyze and maintain research data and/or specimens. Conduct literature reviews and assist with preparation of reports, manuscripts, and other documents. Install, set up, and perform laboratory experiments under the direction of research leadership. Interact with researchers, students, facility clients, and other laboratory staff. Provide supplementary support to other laboratory teams as needed. Maintain a high level of attention to detail and ownership of assigned work. Overtime is rare but may occasionally be required based on research demands.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree or higher in a related scientific field. Less than 2 years of work experience in a related laboratory or scientific discipline.

Preferred:

3-6 months of experience working in a genomics research laboratory setting. Familiarity with next-generation sequencing (NGS), nucleic acid sample processing, or laboratory-based genomics techniques is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work under pressure, manage competing deadlines and priorities, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment. Detail-oriented with a strong sense of work ownership. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time. Ability to perform laboratory-based tasks for extended periods of time.

Pay:
