NEX/11 Target hiring range for this position will be between $21.50-$24.86 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data
Job Summary:
Conducts experimental research lab work and/or assists in design of one or more specific phase(s) of entire project(s). May complete mathematical calculations, and/or computer tasks and/or assist in judging validity of data. Follows appropriate protocols, policies, procedures, regulations, Good Clinical and Good Laboratory Practices. The Research Technologist will primarily support the sensor subgroup by fabricating and preparing Electrochemical Aptamer-Based (E-AB) sensors and other biosensor platforms. This role involves surface functionalization, electrodeposition of nanostructured materials, and the handling of microfabricated devices, while assisting graduate students and postdoctoral researchers with electrochemical characterization. This is a one-year termed position subject to renewal dependent on performance and available funding.
Specific Responsibilities :
Biosensor Fabrication:
Preparation and surface functionalization of electrodes, including the electrodeposition of nanostructured materials.
Device Integration :
Handling, preparing, and assembling microfabricated device platforms.
Assisting Electrochemical Characterization:
Supporting/running analytical techniques such as Cyclic Voltammetry (CV), Square Wave Voltammetry (SWV), and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS).
Data Management :
Organizing raw experimental data and maintaining accurate records of fabrication protocols for the research team. Administration Maintains detailed records of results which may include collecting, extracting & entering data. Manipulates, interprets &/or presents results. Prepares charts & graphs for presentations & publications. Performs scientific literature searches in support of research. Completes portions of grant applications, manuscripts & publications. Finance Tracks & summarizes lab supply expenses. Verifies accuracy of invoices. Orders &/or maintains inventory of reagent, mice &/or lab supplies. Supervises Trains students. Miscellaneous Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a scientific major or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
Minimum Competencies:
(Skills, knowledge, and abilities.) Demonstrated laboratory experience; Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions as required by research protocols; Demonstrated computer skills, including spreadsheets and basic computations; Attention to detail and accurate record keeping; Ability to work independently and in a team environment; Manual dexterity.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
Preferred Competencies:
(Skills, knowledge, and abilities) Knowledge of biosensors including Electrochemical Aptamer-Based (E-AB) sensor preparation and surface functionalization protocols. Basic understanding of electrochemical analytical techniques (e.g., CV, SWV, EIS) to effectively assist senior researchers in sensor evaluation. Strong sense of responsibility and accountability in managing multi-step experimental protocols, maintaining laboratory equipment, and supporting the research team. Diligent and meticulous working style with exceptional attention to detail in executing fabrication steps and maintaining accurate scientific records. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a reliable team member supporting PhD students and postdoctoral researchers. Prioritizes maintaining a clean and organized work area.
