Lab Assistant I Job Description The Lab Assistant I will work in a high-volume production environment, playing a vital role in clinical lab science. This position involves handling various tasks that contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the laboratory operations. Responsibilities Receive and sort clinical lab specimens. Prepare specimens for testing and analysis. Scan and/or enter specimen and patient information into the system. Ensure all lab equipment is functioning properly and perform minor maintenance as needed. Troubleshoot any specimen-related issues. Replenish test bench supplies as necessary. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested. Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards. Essential Skills High school diploma or equivalent. Comfortable handling biological specimens. Ability to accurately identify specimens. Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills. High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. Flexibility to work overtime as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous medical/lab or production experience is preferred. Work Environment This position is 100% onsite with working hours from 6:00 pm to 2:30 am, plus every other Saturday. There is a possibility of additional hours on Saturdays. Employees will receive a 10% shift differential for working the second shift. A lunch/dinner break is provided, and the potential for overtime is required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Itasca, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
