North Chicago, Illinois job type: Contract salary: $28.00 - 30.43 per hour work hours: 9 to 5 education: Bachelors responsibilities: Perform and verify routine to moderately complex analytical laboratory techniques on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products. Troubleshoot, maintain, and resolve basic technical or logistical obstacles with laboratory instruments and analytical methods. Document all laboratory activities, calculations, and raw data accurately in accordance with established standard operating procedures. Manage daily testing priorities independently, balancing multiple tasks to meet strict release timelines. Collaborate proactively with team members and supervisors to report data output and confirm specification compliance. Support continuous improvement initiatives, lab maintenance, and compliance audit readiness across the testing floor.
qualifications:
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a scientific discipline (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or related science) with 0-4 years of laboratory experience, OR an Associate's Degree with 3+ years of practical lab experience. Hands-on experience with fundamental wet chemistry techniques and general laboratory equipment. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with explicit attention to detail and accurate data documentation. Proven problem-solving capabilities and self-initiative to maximize productivity during lab downtime. Complete schedule flexibility to participate in a mandatory 6-7 week day-shift training program (Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM), with availability to transition to 1st or 2nd shifts (including weekend rotations) post-training.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
Prior analytical testing experience in a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or regulated laboratory environment. Direct experience operating chromatographic or spectroscopic instrumentation (e.g., HPLC, LC-MS, GC, GC-MS, ICP). Familiarity with analytical software platforms such as Waters Empower or electronic lab notebooks. Knowledge of complementary analytical testing techniques, including Karl Fischer, Titrations, Dissolution, or Infrared (IR) Spectroscopy. #LI-ST1 skills: Gas Chromatography (GC), Liquid Chromatography (LC), Mass Spectrometry (MS), Karl Fischer (KF) Titration, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
