Contract Job Overview:
The Laboratory Technician will support entomology and plant testing activities in a controlled laboratory environment. The role involves preparing plant and insect assay materials, conducting routine testing procedures, maintaining lab cleanliness, and supporting evaluation processes in accordance with established protocols and safety standards.
Requirement/Must Have:
Bachelor s degree in Biology, Entomology, or related field. Prior work experience in any field (laboratory experience not mandatory). Ability to follow detailed instructions, protocols, and SOPs. Strong communication and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexibility to shift tasks based on daily operational needs.
Experience:
Experience handling routine laboratory or manual work tasks preferred. Experience working in structured, process-driven environments preferred. Experience following safety protocols and documentation procedures. Exposure to plant or insect handling processes is a plus.
Responsibilities:
Clip and thin plants used in laboratory testing. Perform insect infestation tasks using non-hazardous insect species. Prepare assay formulations using manual pipettes. Apply assays using hand sprayers and track sprayers. Maintain laboratory cleanliness and restock materials as needed. Grade and evaluate insect assay results. Prepare media used in entomology testing. Support documentation and scribing for evaluators. Follow safety procedures and use appropriate PPE at all times.
Should Have:
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills. Ability to manage time effectively and multitask. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks.
Skills:
Laboratory support and maintenance. Plant and insect handling techniques. Assay preparation and application. Data recording and documentation. SOP adherence and quality compliance. Communication and teamwork. Time management and adaptability.
Qualification And Education:
Bachelor s degree in Biology, Entomology, or related discipline required. Equivalent scientific academic background preferred.
