Job Title:
Chemist Team Lead - Technical Services / Manufacturing Job Description We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Services Chemist to join our team in a dynamic industrial environment. This role offers excellent opportunities for professional growth and hands-on experience in chemical analysis, quality control, and process improvement. This team is responsible for all of the technical service work onsite at their client. While the position is a lab role, this technical service includes some responsibilities beyond the lab as well. Responsibilities Conduct quality control testing on production materials using techniques such as ICP, FTIR, pH, conductivity, alkalinity, and titrations. Maintain and monitor chemical solutions used in industrial processes. Perform microbiological and water treatment testing. Troubleshoot issues on the production floor to support operational efficiency. Collaborate with team members to identify and implement cost-saving and safety-enhancing initiatives. Maintain lab tools, equipment, and workspaces to ensure readiness and compliance. Manage inventory, track usage, and coordinate supply orders. Cross-train across lab functions to provide coverage during absences. Assist in developing testing protocols and reporting results. Step into supervisory duties when needed. Essential Skills Strong understanding of basic chemistry principles and lab techniques. 1+ years experience in a manufacturing lab or QA/QC environment leading a team. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Office Suite; ability to use formulas and create documentation. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Comfortable lifting up to 70 pounds. Ability to work a 3-day schedule long term. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associates or Bachelors degree required, preferably in applied sciences, chemistry, biology, or a related field. Unrelated 2 or 4 year degrees will be considered with relevant GMP/Lab/Quality experience. Work Environment The work environment is located onsite at an industrial plant, specifically within a fluid management context. The laboratory is smaller in size but equipped with good analytical equipment such as FTIR and ICP. It is a climate-controlled industrial blue-collar plant. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lafayette, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
