A Sleep Laboratory Technician, also known as a polysomnographic technician, performs tests and collects data on patients with sleep disorders. Responsible for giving patients explanations of the impending sleep tests and procedures, preparing equipment for the procedures, recording activities and analyzing results - all while working under the advisement of a clinical director and/or sleep technologist.

Location:
Arnett Hospital Sleep Lab This position performs basic and advanced diagnostic sleep studies and may provide supervision of other staff. They prepare patient equipment for testing, interviews patient to determine sleep disorder issues and to explain pre and post testing procedures. They perform and document testing per lab protocols. They will monitor patient throughout testing and intervenes as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues. They will assist with scoring sleep studies and generating reports. The role prepares, calibrates, repairs and maintains equipment required for testing. They determine and report needed repairs/replacements. They will maintain credentials as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BPRT). Certifications obtained through the American Board of Sleep Medicine will be honored through their certification date or until credentials through the BPRT are obtained.
Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED is required. Associate's Degree is preferred. Experience in BiPAP/ASV Titration preferred. Requires 1-3 years of experience. Must obtain certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or certification as a Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) within 2 years of date of hire. Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or will need to acquire it. Must be able to pass boards within 2 years.
