Job Title:
Laboratory Technician Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to support daily operations in a fast-paced quality control laboratory within a manufacturing environment. In this role, you prepare samples, solutions, and laboratory materials that directly support analytical testing and production activities. You will work hands-on with laboratory equipment, follow established procedures carefully, and have the opportunity to develop your technical skills in an industrial lab that is growing and expanding its capabilities. Responsibilities + Follow all laboratory safety, environmental, and quality procedures at all times. + Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready laboratory and work area. + Assist with inventory management for chemicals, reagents, consumables, and general laboratory supplies. + Participate in safety initiatives and proactively identify and report workplace hazards. + Support the development, review, and revision of laboratory procedures and work instructions. + Prepare reagents, standards, and laboratory solutions according to established protocols. + Receive, label, log, and organize incoming samples in accordance with lab procedures. + Perform routine sample preparation activities, including weighing, dilution, filtration, digestion, and conditioning. + Ensure proper chain-of-custody documentation and maintain full sample traceability. + Record sample information accurately within laboratory databases and tracking systems. + Assist laboratory staff with routine testing and analysis activities as needed. + Operate common laboratory equipment, including balances, pH meters, ovens, furnaces, and general laboratory instrumentation. + Document testing activities clearly and communicate observations to laboratory personnel. + Perform routine cleaning, calibration checks, and preventative maintenance tasks on laboratory equipment. + Support continuous improvement efforts focused on laboratory efficiency, quality, and accuracy. Essential Skills + High school diploma required. + Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related scientific discipline preferred. + 1-2 years of experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, academic research, or internship setting preferred. + 1-2 years of experience with sample preparation techniques and laboratory documentation preferred. + Basic understanding of laboratory practices and safe chemical handling. + Ability to follow written procedures and standard operating instructions accurately. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook. + Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation. + Ability to operate common laboratory equipment such as balances, pH meters, ovens, furnaces, and general lab instruments. + Comfort working in a structured, process-driven environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience or coursework in chemistry, quality control, or related scientific fields. + Experience with laboratory techniques in quality control or industrial settings. + Familiarity with laboratory documentation practices and chain-of-custody requirements. + Exposure to analytical technologies such as ICP-OES, HPLC, GC, or GC-MS is a plus. + Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy. + Self-motivated with a strong willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities. + Interest in growing into more advanced laboratory and analytical responsibilities over time. + Ability to communicate clearly with laboratory personnel and collaborate within a team environment. Work Environment This position operates in a manufacturing setting with two onsite laboratories that are climate controlled and designed for quality control and analytical work. The role follows a day shift schedule, typically 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The broader facility includes multiple locations and ongoing expansion, with renovated spaces, clean rooms, and new laboratory areas, providing opportunities to work with modern equipment and processes. The environment is structured, process-driven, and focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement, offering room for professional growth in an evolving industrial laboratory context. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Noblesville, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.66 - $33.66/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
