Sets up, operates, and maintains laboratory equipment, makes observations, and calculates and records results; receives, types, tests, and records blood bank inventories.

Job Description

JOB DUTIES
Collect and prepare blood, urine, and tissue samples for analysis Examine collected samples and identify any cell abnormalities Perform clinical lab tests and report results Maintain laboratory inventory levels and, if necessary, place orders for new supplies Prepare detailed reports about test results and findings Document and review tested data Ensure all tissue samples are prepped for examination Collaborate with pathologist(s) and other medical specialists to determine correct diagnosis if cell abnormalities are discovered Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to safety procedures and regulations Maintain confidentiality of all information according to HIPAA and company policy The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to make decisions Strong verbal and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with patients, medical staff, and the public Detail-Oriented with proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment Professional appearance and ease in developing rapport with others Computer skills, including MS Office, Outlook, and Meditech, preferred Ability to work well in a team or independently, preferred Advanced knowledge of biology and chemistry Ability to move, position self, consistently operate various types of equipment, able to detect/observe/identify details at close or distant range with or without accommodations as well as exerting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
