This position collects and performs chemical and bacteriological tests to ensure quality of water treatment processes and compliance with state and/or federal regulations. This incumbent will collect water samples from homes and businesses throughout the City.
Primary duties include:
Perform chemical and bacteriological tests to ensure quality of water treatment process. Collects routine water samples from homes and businesses throughout the city, which requires contact with the public. Prepare chemical reagents for laboratory and operational uses. Perform laboratory quality control procedures.
The ideal candidate has:
Knowledge of laboratory equipment, terminology, and laboratory procedures as well as knowledge of water quality testing methods. Excellent communication skills. An aptitude for technology or a willingness to learn. The ability to read and comprehend technical manuals and graphs and charts.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent is required; previous experience with drinking water analysis is preferred. Must be insurable within the standards set by the City of Topeka's insurance carrier and possess and maintain a valid Kansas driver's license.
