Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Full-Time | Third Shift BHCOR-Laboratory I Corbin, KY Clinical Laboratory Services provides an array of timely and accurate diagnostic testing and other services to Baptist Health Corbin's patients, and to other patients and organizations in support of the facilities mission, vision and strategic priorities. The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) independently performs laboratory testing, interprets and validates results, and ensures accuracy in accordance with established procedures and regulatory standards. This role supports quality patient care through technical expertise, problem solving, and collaboration with healthcare providers and laboratory staff. Responsibilities Performs laboratory testing on blood and body fluid specimens, including specimen collection, processing, analysis, and result reporting.
Ensures accurate, timely testing and maintains quality control, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
Monitors specimen integrity, identifies testing issues, and follows corrective action procedures when needed.
Maintains compliance with safety, infection control, confidentiality, PPE, and regulatory requirements.
Manages laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment to support efficient operations.
Communicates test results and critical values effectively with physicians, nurses, providers, and other healthcare staff.
Participates in quality assurance, proficiency testing, performance improvement, and laboratory quality programs.
Assists with training, competency validation, continuing education, and collaboration to support patient care and departmental goals.
Supports emergency preparedness, life safety initiatives, and adherence to hospital policies and accreditation standards.
Requirements Associate degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related science required.
No prior experience required.
Two years of college coursework in biology and chemistry plus completion of an accredited Medical Technology or related science program may substitute for the degree requirement when eligible for certification.
Certification as MLT (AMT), MLS (ASCP), CLT (NCA), or equivalent required; certification must be obtained within one year of hire if not already held.
