Job Description
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for all phases and aspects of mechanical testing. The position may also assist with work in other areas of the laboratory as necessary. This position is also responsible for supporting the main laboratory testing activities and day to day operations as directed by the Shift Supervisor, Group Leader, Lab Supervisor, and Lab Engineer.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
May perform any or all Mechanical Lab duties as follows: 1. Sample preparation of all mechanical and chemistry samples. 2. Performs maintenance and daily calibration on various testing equipment. 3. Entering of test results into theAS400. 4.
Maintains hard copy results of calibration and test results. 5. Performs sample preparation work in the metallography lab such as grinding and polishing. 6. Performs grain, corrosion and bend testing with result evaluation. 7. Trains other technicians for back up purposes. 8. Documents testing procedures/results and stores in the proper locations. 9. Understands and utilizes the sample archive and logging system. 10. Performs special work order testing for QC and other departmentSUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Other duties as assigned 2. Participation in relevant continuous improvement programs. 3. Training in new testing procedures or other labs.MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
A High School Diploma or GED Equivalency is required. The ability to multi-task and to pay attention to detail is strongly preferred.PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED
