M-F 8-5 (rotational weekend work) Pay rate: $19•$20/hr. Position Summary The Bio•Assay Lab Technician is responsible for performing laboratory-based acute and chronic toxicity tests using freshwater and saltwater organisms. This role supports environmental testing activities by preparing, maintaining, monitoring, and documenting controlled toxicity studies in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory guidelines. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conduct acute and chronic aquatic toxicity tests using freshwater and marine organisms. Perform test setup, initiation, maintenance, renewal, and termination procedures. Maintain test organisms through appropriate feeding, care, and environmental controls. Accurately record observations, measurements, and test data in accordance with laboratory protocols. Ensure strict adherence to approved methods, SOPs, and relevant regulatory guidelines. Perform reference toxicant testing to verify laboratory performance and data quality. Carry out routine laboratory maintenance and support tasks as needed. Work scheduled shifts that may include weekends and holidays on a rotating basis. Maintain a safe and compliant working environment by following all laboratory safety procedures. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. 1-2 years of related laboratory or technical experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including SOPs, safety rules, operating instructions, and testing specifications. Basic understanding of algebra and ability to perform accurate counts, measurements, and data recording. Ability to follow detailed instructions and solve practical problems. Capability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, and scheduled information. Ability to stand for extended periods. Frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs; occasional lifting over 50 lbs. Manual handling of laboratory equipment and materials. Availability for rotating weekend and holiday shifts. Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail in a structured environment.
