m. Position Overview Medasource is seeking three dependable, detail-oriented Histology Scanning Technicians to support the pathology laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital. This is an assistant-level laboratory position primarily focused on scanning, transporting, organizing, sorting, and filing pathology slides. Previous histology, pathology, or clinical laboratory experience is preferred but not required. Training will be provided for candidates who are comfortable working around biological specimens and can consistently follow detailed procedures. Primary Responsibilities Scan glass pathology slides using laboratory scanning equipment Review scanned images and information for completeness and accuracy Transport glass slides between laboratory areas, processing stations, and pathology departments Carefully deliver specimens, cassettes, and slides to designated laboratory areas Clean, sort, organize, and file completed glass slides Place slides into the correct folders, trays, or storage systems Label and track slides, specimens, and related laboratory materials Enter or verify information within laboratory computer systems Retrieve previously filed slides when requested Maintain accurate records of slide and specimen movement Restock supplies and notify the appropriate team member when inventory is running low Clean work surfaces, equipment, and assigned laboratory areas Maintain an organized and procedure-ready workspace Follow all laboratory safety, confidentiality, infection-control, and biohazard procedures Complete additional routine laboratory-support duties as assigned Qualifications Previous experience in histology, pathology, specimen processing, or a clinical laboratory is preferred but not required Comfortable working in a laboratory environment around biological specimens Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Basic computer and data-entry skills Able to carefully handle fragile glass slides and specimen materials Comfortable performing repetitive, accuracy-focused work throughout the shift Able to follow written procedures and verbal instructions Dependable, punctual, and capable of maintaining a consistent schedule Laboratory information system experience is helpful but not required Must be available to begin around October 1, 2026 Must be able to work fully on-site in Boston for the complete 10-month contract Physical and Workplace Expectations Regular standing and walking between laboratory areas Frequent handling, organizing, and filing of glass slides Repetitive scanning and computer-based work Ability to carefully transport slides, specimens, cassettes, and laboratory materials Consistent use of required personal protective equipment Compliance with all hospital and laboratory safety procedures This opportunity is well suited for someone who is reliable, organized, comfortable with routine laboratory work, and able to maintain accuracy while completing repetitive tasks in a busy hospital environment.
