Job Description

Position Summary:
OM Diagnostic Laboratories, Inc. is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Lab Assistant to support our clinical laboratory operations in Norwood, MA. This is an entry-level position ideal for candidates looking to start a career in healthcare or laboratory science. Full training is provided on-site.
Key Responsibilities:
Sample Handling & Accessioning Receive and log incoming biological specimens accurately and efficiently. Ensure proper labeling and documentation of all samples according to lab protocols. Verify test requests and patient information for accuracy and completeness. Prepare samples for analysis by lab technologists or for transport to reference labs. Inventory & Supply Management Monitor stock levels of lab supplies and reagents. Assist with ordering, receiving, and organizing inventory. Ensure all supplies are stored properly and labeled according to safety standards. Dispose of expired or damaged materials following laboratory procedures. Client Communication & Support Answer incoming calls and provide courteous, professional assistance to clients and healthcare providers. Redirect calls and messages to appropriate lab personnel or departments. Provide basic information about lab hours, sample drop-off procedures, and test status. General Laboratory Assistance Support lab technologists and medical staff with routine tasks and clerical duties. Clean and sanitize workstations and equipment daily. Assist with documentation, filing, and maintaining patient records. Follow all safety, HIPAA, and quality control protocols. Maintaining a Clean & Safe Environment Help ensure compliance with all laboratory safety standards. Participate in routine cleaning schedules and basic equipment maintenance. Report spills, malfunctions, or safety concerns to supervisors immediately.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED (required) Excellent attention to detail and time management Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately Comfortable working in a clinical or laboratory setting Basic computer literacy (e.g., Microsoft Office, email) Preferred (Not Required): Previous experience in a laboratory, healthcare, or medical office setting Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and infection control procedures Bilingual or multilingual skills (a plus) Why Join Us?
