Pay Rate:
$30/hour Job Description The temporary technician position supports the Materials Technologies business in various Research and Development (R D) and Technical Customer Service (TCS) projects. This role involves performing laboratory work on Grace Silica products which are used in a wide range of applications including coatings, electronics, renewable diesel, edible oil, oil and gas, catalysis, metal processing, and many more. Major Responsibilities Assists engineers, scientists, and other technicians with a variety of laboratory tasks Performs chemical and/or physical analyses or scientific tests using both routine and special techniques in compliance with all safety standards Collects, analyzes and processes laboratory samples Records results of tests, organizes data, performs basic computations, and prepares reports and analyses using standard procedures and guidelines Active participation in required local safety program, along with the ability to work safely and maintain a clean and orderly lab environment. Installs, operates, maintains and repairs laboratory test equipment, apparatus, systems and supplies Required Skills Commitment to maintaining a safe and organized laboratory environment Familiarity with computer programs such as MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint Ability to work well in a team setting Candidate should have good interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to work with minimum supervision in a chemical laboratory setting English language proficiency Required Experience Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or related technical field. Associates degree and 3+ years related technical experience. Knowledge of basic chemical principles; Strong knowledge of basic wet-chemistry laboratory techniques Preferred Qualifications Proficient with operation of typical computer-controlled laboratory instrumentation Good manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude Diligent at keeping written and/or electronic records Some prior knowledge of colloid chemistry and aqueous acid-base chemistry a plus
