Job Description
Ongoing contractor basis Executes day-to-day lab operations & support objectives at customer facilities, following a varied set of procedures, focused on minimizing laboratory workflow interruptions. Problems and issues are typically less concrete and frequently changing, and are solved by applying experience from comparable situations in the past and/or selecting solutions within known alternatives. Tasks include end-to-end management of gas cylinders and liquid tanks, dry ice, and instrument buffers, solvents and liquid nitrogen, and supporting quality control workflows by executing sampling. Collects, documents, and organizes data and observations. Communicates activity records, service level metrics and other information requiring explanation or interpretation to team members, supervisors or customers. Job Description Lab Support Specialist will be responsible for: o Under moderate supervision, provide direct benchtop services support at customer facilities. o Execute routine laboratory support procedures and preparations (e.g. media/buffer prep, solvent/reagent mixtures, filtrations, material weighing, some physical testing, witness senior staff experiments). o Maintain lab inventory and labeling (e.g. chemical reagents, glassware, gas cylinder levels). Verification/maintenance of laboratory equipment (e.g. balances, pH meters). o Sample receipt check-in (manual and/or electronic tracking) o Identify appropriate storage and track storage location (manual and/or electronic) o Maintain paperwork associated with sample deliveries o Secure samples for shipping o Pack samples and document carton contents for manifest o Coordinate with shipping/receiving team to stage items for shipment o Material Management Regards the biological samples o Human Biological Sample (HBS) handling, including appropriate biosafety and privacy and ethical considerations o HBS labeling and accessioning into AZ Laboratory Information Management System (LIMs) o HBS disposals per AZ processes o Handling HBS storage equipment, including•80C freezers,•180C LN2 freezers, and ambient cabinets o Documentation and inventory management associated with HBS and HBS equipment handling #IND2
