Specimen Technician
Job Overview:
Pay Range:
$19.00hr - $24.00hr
Requirement/Must Have:
High School diploma or equivalent. Basic understanding of computers. Ability to enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour. Availability for weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as required. Ability to learn and understand compliance regulations related to test ordering. Ability to learn and understand specimen types related to ordered tests.
Responsibilities:
Perform general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department including A-station, presort, and imaging. Pick up and deliver processed specimens to the laboratory. Perform centrifugation and aliquoting of specimens. Ensure all functions are performed with accuracy and in a timely manner. Maintain a neat and clean work area. Ad to core values, safety, and compliance policies and procedures. Work in a biohazard environment while practicing safe habits. Communicate effectively with all levels of staff. Nice to
Have:
Preferred knowledge of laboratory testing and/or laboratory specimen processing. Medical background including medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory. Previous hospital laboratory experience. Previous experience in a production environment.
