09/16/2026 Position Summary Responsible for monitoring, recording, and reporting paper quality, performing testing of paper and boilers, and communicating with Shift Leader and team. Must perform boiler chemistry maintenance, assist with paper machine operator, startups, and shutdowns. Inspect finished product to ensure quality. Maintain a safe and clean work area. Job Duties and Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to) Perform a wide range of standardized physical tests on paper and pulp samples, including but not limited to: Basis weight (grammage) Caliper (thickness) Burst strength (Mullen) Tensile strength and stretch Smoothness and porosity (e.g., Bendtsen, Sheffield) Cobb sizing (water absorption) Operate and maintain a variety of laboratory equipment, including specialized paper testing instruments, titrators, balances, ovens, and other general lab apparatus. Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate with maintenance or external service providers as needed. Accurately record all test results, observations, and relevant data into laboratory notebooks, computer systems, or LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System). Generate reports on test findings, identifying any deviations from specifications or trends that require attention. Communicate critical test results promptly to relevant production, quality control, or supervisory personnel. Adhere strictly to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality control guidelines. Assist in troubleshooting quality issues by providing accurate and timely test data. Handle boiler room chemicals while wearing PPE and following the proper instructions for handling and storing the chemicals. Collect boiler water samples and conduct testing of the samples. After all tests are completed, record test information in the Boiler Water Treatment log. Responsible for conducting quality inspections Participate in internal and external audits related to quality systems and laboratory practices. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment, following all safety protocols (e.g., proper handling of chemicals, use of PPE). Education, Certifications, and Experience High school diploma or

GED. 1-3

years of laboratory experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment; experience in a paper, pulp, or related industry is highly desirable. Skills and Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency in laboratory techniques and safe handling of chemicals. Ability to perform precise measurements and follow complex instructions. Strong communication skills (written and verbal) to effectively report findings and collaborate with team members. Excellent data entry and computer skills; experience with LIMS or similar data management systems preferred. Work Conditions and Physical Requirements Must be able to work in a paper mill environment which may involve exposure to noise, temperature variations (cold, heat, and humidity), dust, and chemicals. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs., walking, climbing, stooping, pushing, and pulling for extended periods (up to 12-hour shifts). Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Pay:

$22.00 - $24.00 per hour Expected hours: 8.0 per week
