None General Summary:
Work as a team with other laboratory staff in meeting workload demands in any needed areas of the laboratory. Potential candidates must be highly motivated, detail oriented, and have excellent time management skills to be able to multitask in a fast-paced laboratory environment. Must have reliable transportation. Works under the direction of the Lab Manager. This position is 4 days per week, Monday-Thursday, 10am-2pm at our Monroe, MI location. Potential for more hours depending on workload.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
1) Accession specimens accurately and in a timely manner 2) Effectively communicate with all KD practice offices regarding biopsy order discrepancies and document appropriately 3) Effectively communicate to outside facilities regarding lab send outs 4) Prepare and package lab send outs for pickup, documenting appropriately 5) Accept eLabs from outside laboratories, resolving any issues that may arise 6) Assist with digital pathology including loading, processing, and unloading glass slides 7) Verify digital images and assign case folders to remote pathologist 8) Enter data from pathology gross worksheet into appropriate section of pathology module 9) File all patient material in an appropriate and organized manner 10) Assist with organizing and entering data for cancer reporting 11) Perform laboratory machine maintenance upon request 12) Neutralize formalin bottles and prepare waste for pickup by upon request
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Required:
  • Must be familiar with computers
  • Consistently arrives at work, in professional attire, on time, and completes all tasks within the established time frame
  • Demonstrates the ability to expanded roles
  • Assist other laboratory staff as needed
  • Medicare Exclusion List
  • Adheres to all Kouba Dermatology policies and procedures.
Education:
  • High School Diploma.
Higher level of education is preferred.
Preferred:
Candidate with strong medical office or lab experience.
Working Conditions:
Office-based laboratory with exposure to electrical machinery. Exposure to potentially infectious materials. Use of various laboratory reagents which may be hazardous in nature.
