Monday-Friday, Day Shift Job Summary MI Cannalytics is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support cannabis testing operations within Michigan's medical and adult-use cannabis industry. This role is responsible for sample handling, laboratory testing support, data recording, and compliance with all applicable state regulations. The ideal candidate demonstrates attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a regulated laboratory environment. Key Responsibilities Perform sample handling, preparation, and documentation for cannabis and cannabis products Accurately record laboratory data, including sample weights, volumes, and quality control results Maintain compliance with state regulations and internal standard operating procedures (SOPs) Utilize Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for data entry and tracking Support sample intake, accessioning, and non-analytical testing (e.g., moisture content, water activity, foreign material analysis) Prepare reagents, solutions, and laboratory materials according to established procedures Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including routine cleaning and preventative maintenance Conduct daily instrument performance checks and assist with basic troubleshooting Adhere to Good Documentation Practices (GDP) for all laboratory records Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents Assist with method validation, verification, and proficiency testing Perform cannabis sampling and transport activities as required Follow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) Required Qualifications Minimum age of 21 years Valid driver's license Ability to meet eligibility requirements for employment within a licensed cannabis business in Michigan High school diploma or equivalent One of the following: 2+ years of laboratory experience; OR 1+ year of laboratory experience and successful completion of a skills assessment Experience with laboratory documentation, data entry, and compliance procedures Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) Preferred Qualifications Experience in cannabis, pharmaceutical, food testing, or environmental laboratories Familiarity with Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency regulations Experience with METRC or other cannabis tracking systems Knowledge of aseptic technique and sample preparation Experience with LIMS systems Core Competencies Attention to detail Time management Organizational skills Problem-solving ability Communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Commitment to compliance and quality Work Environment Laboratory setting with regulated cannabis materials Use of PPE required Exposure to chemicals, fumes, and laboratory equipment Video and audio monitoring in accordance with state regulations Physical Requirements Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods Frequent use of hands and arms for handling samples and equipment Occasional lifting up to 40 pounds Ability to perform tasks requiring close vision and focus Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Paid time off
