Job Description

Position Summary:
The Laboratory Technician will provide resources for the lab, including equipment maintenance, buffer and media preparation, and equipment setup, and will assist with analytical and process development work. The position also includes laboratory management duties, including ensuring that supplies of key chemicals, disposables, reagents, and related materials are maintained in a timely, proactive manner. The successful candidate must be able to think and act independently, have excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Requirements:
  • B.Sc. in microbiology or an associated biological discipline
  • At least 1 year experience in a life sciences laboratory setting
  • Ability to work in a team, yet independently on assigned project tasks.
  • Proven communication skills
Preferred Requirements:
  • Ability to work using sterile techniques.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture.
Responsibilities:
  • Directly manage the Laboratory supplies on a day-to-day basis.
  • Assist scientists with analytical testing (e.g., serology and PCR testing)
  • Assist scientists with cell and virus maintenance.
  • Prepare buffers, media, and other solutions.
  • Ensure equipment is kept clean, in working order and perform routine maintenance as required.
  • Communicate results in clear written format for integration into reports.
  • Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory.
  • Manage correspondence and documentation, maintain records and files
  • Be prepared to assist with other duties as needed.
