Job Title:
Lab AssistantJob Description We are seeking a dedicated Lab Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform routine testing and provide analytical data essential for process control, quality control, process development, product development, and waste management within our Analytical Services laboratory. Responsibilities + Perform routine analytical testing as directed by protocols and work instructions. + Work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays, in a 24-hour production site. + Prepare solutions, clean glassware, and dispose of solid/liquid waste. + Train others on waste management procedures. + Alert lab leadership of issues or discrepancies in sample integrity, supply inventory, safety concerns, or analysis irregularities. + Communicate troubleshooting opportunities in testing processes. + Conduct basic operational preventative maintenance and identify operational issues with laboratory instruments and equipment. + Utilize Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), Chromatography Data System (CDS), and other instrument-specific computer systems. + Search databases for test methods, specifications, and standards necessary for analyses. + Record, calculate, and report analytical results promptly and accurately. + Review analytical data and various LIMS reports. + Communicate and discuss any issues with team members and supervisors. + Complete data entry for metrics and KPIs. + Identify and communicate process improvement ideas. + Communicate testing results to customers, ensuring customer-focused action. + Notify leads when supplies/consumables reach critical levels. + Observe good safety and housekeeping practices. + Participate in lab/site safety programs and cross-site initiatives. + Maintain knowledge of RCRA hazardous waste regulations, waste determinations, and waste codes. Essential Skills + High school diploma and a minimum of 1-year lab experience. + Good oral and written communication skills. + High attention to detail and ability to analyze outcomes against a standard. + Ability to diagnose typical instrument problems with little or no assistance. + Ability to multitask and prioritize workload to optimize efficiency and productivity. Additional Skills & Qualifications + 3 years laboratory experience is preferred. + Understanding of basic HPLC and GC operations. + Experience with FTIR and gas chromatography. + Experience in wet chemistry, biology, and laboratory testing. Work Environment This position requires working 12-hour shifts from 7pm to 7am, with rotating days every three to four months. The lab operates 24 hours a day with three shifts, requiring flexibility to work weekends and holidays. The role involves engaging with team members and customers, working in a laboratory setting with various instruments and computer systems, and adhering to safety and regulatory guidelines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Kansas City, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
