JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a Lab Analyst I to join a high-volume, 24-hour production laboratory in Kansas City. This position performs routine analytical testing to support process control, quality control, process development, product development, and waste management . The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, comfortable working independently, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform routine analytical testing according to established protocols and work instructions. Prepare laboratory solutions and maintain clean, organized work areas. Clean glassware and properly dispose of solid and liquid laboratory waste. Operate and monitor laboratory instruments and equipment. Perform basic preventative maintenance according to established procedures. Identify and communicate equipment, testing, sample, or process issues. Use LIMS, Chromatography Data Systems (CDS), and instrument-specific computer systems . Research test methods, specifications, and standards using laboratory databases. Accurately record, calculate, review, and report analytical results. Complete data entry for laboratory metrics and KPIs. Review analytical data and LIMS reports for accuracy and discrepancies. Communicate testing results, concerns, and troubleshooting opportunities to team members and leadership. Monitor laboratory supplies and notify leadership when inventory levels are low. Support process-improvement and continuous-improvement initiatives. Assist with training related to laboratory waste-management procedures. Follow all laboratory, site, safety, and housekeeping requirements. Maintain knowledge of applicable RCRA hazardous-waste requirements , including waste determinations and waste codes. Immediately report spills, leaks, safety concerns, sample-integrity issues, and other irregularities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to analyze test results and compare outcomes against established standards. Ability to troubleshoot common laboratory instrument issues with minimal assistance. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced laboratory environment. Ability to work a variety of schedules, including weekends and holidays.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
3+ years of laboratory experience. Basic knowledge of HPLC and GC operation . Experience with LIMS, CDS, or laboratory information systems. Experience in a manufacturing, quality-control, or production laboratory.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is an on-site laboratory position within a 24-hour production facility . Employees must be comfortable working extended 12-hour shifts and following strict laboratory safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
