Job Description
About HHCS Henderson Health Care Services is a full-service Critical Care Hospital, Long Term Care, and Family Clinic in Henderson & Sutton, NE. Our work environment includes:
Performs testing in a timely manner. Demonstrates the ability to set priorities. Responds to changes in work as necessary; continually uses time to departmental advantage. Completes work assigned during shift without sacrificing quality of care. Maintains standards in ER, timed, and STAT testing. Documents quality control procedures and preventive maintenance procedures performed. Verifies the name of tube or specimen with requisition, and investigates abnormal results. Consults with appropriate personnel when test findings are abnormal and when difficulties are encountered in testing. Correlates laboratory methods, procedures, and patient test results with age-specific population criteria. Correlates test results with diagnoses, and questions incompatible results. Maintains clean and safe working environment. Practices and supports safety in the workplace. Writes legibly and accurately, with complete documentation. Ensures that supplies are available, and notifies appropriate personnel when low. Demonstrates broad knowledge of all laboratory departments. Demonstrates ability to work in all areas. Responds to emergency laboratory call after regular working day to include weekends and holidays when on-call with a response time of 20 minutes. Performs work according to established policies and procedures. Performs duties in an independent manner with little or no direct supervision required. Regularly helps others; performs duties that need to be performed, especially when unassigned. Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples. Identify and correct problems that may affect test performance and either correct problems or notify technical consultant, clinical consultant, or laboratory director. Follow dress code policy. Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent information in accordance with the Privacy Act and our own Employee Handbook. Abide by employee immunization/vaccination policies. Performs all other duties as assigned by the Laboratory Supervisor Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. Education and/or Experience Associate in Science degree in medical technology or equivalent with previous experience preferred (MLT) or Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology, chemistry, biology, or related science (MT). ASCP certification preferred. Certificates, Licenses, Registration Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technician (MT). DOT training certification recommended (maybe obtained), and BLS recommended Joining the Team Come see the difference and join a great team!
