Job Description

Overview This is a 20 hour per week part-time position. This position includes the part-time DH benefit's package: DH Benefit's package link: https://www.flipsnack.com/enroll/2026-dhmc-benefits-brochure [flipsnack.com] At the direction of the supervisor, and under guidance of a rehab therapist or registered nurse, assist in or provide mobilization and personal care of patients, preparation of equipment used to mobilize or treat patients, and clerk duties specific to the clinical care department. Responsibilities Prepare and position patients for upcoming therapy treatment. Supports licensed staff with direct patient care specific to early mobility and safe patient handling. Perform Activities of Daily Living at the direction of the nurse or rehab therapist. Assists with mobility including but not limited to bed mobility, transfers, ambulation, mechanical lifts and exercise plan. At the direction of the nurse or rehab therapist assists with range of motion and donning/doffing braces and splints. Provide maintenance-based therapy programs to help combat mobility declines with longer length of stay patients. Assembles supplies, sets-up, adjusts and delivers equipment, and prepares treatment modalities. Keeps supplies stocked as requested by the nurse, rehab therapist or leadership. Documents inpatient interventions in the EMR flowsheet. At the direction of nursing, assist in discharge of patient including transport to entrances. Set up and manage the discharge lounge and patients assigned to the lounge. Assists in transporting patients to and from the gym. Maintains cleanliness of equipment and orderliness of department and discharge lounge. Performs daily equipment sweep on inpatient units. Subject matter expert and able to trouble shoot for basic hospital room furniture, mechanical lifts, wheelchairs/specialty chairs, and other patient handling equipment. Support nursing staff with use of specialty equipment that is therapy prescribed. Give patient opportunities to go outside or off floor to help with overall wellness. Provides clerk duties including phone, triaging messages, scheduling patients for therapy, data collection and entry, assists in the gym space supply ordering. Responsible for, in conjunction with the supervisor, Joint Commission compliance in the gym space and discharge lounge. Participates in interdisciplinary rounds as directed by the nurse or rehab therapist or leadership. Acts as a liaison for communicating discharge readiness. Aware of vital sign parameters required for safe mobilization and clarifies with licensed staff as warranted. Assist with vital sign assessment under the direct supervision of the nurse or licensed therapist. Performs other duties as required or assigned. Qualifications High school graduate or the equivalent required. Proven experience working with the public desired. Previous experience working in a medical setting preferred. Familiarity with computers desired. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required. Required Licensure/Certifications BLS required upon hire
