Medical Technician (MLT/MLS)

Wolfeboro, NH Job Type:
Full-Time Nights Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Technician to perform routine and complex laboratory testing that supports the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of disease. This role operates under the supervision of laboratory leadership and plays a critical part in delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality patient results. Key Responsibilities Pre-Analytical Perform venipuncture and capillary collections using age-appropriate techniques Ensure proper specimen labeling, processing, and storage Provide clear patient instructions for optimal sample collection Manage specimen receiving, processing, and send-outs to reference labs Review and place lab test orders ensuring accuracy and medical necessity Analytical / Clinical Perform laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures and CLIA standards Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation, including routine maintenance Review and validate quality control data before releasing results Troubleshoot and resolve instrument or assay issues Participate in validation of new equipment, methods, and assays Assist in training new staff and students Post-Analytical Review and release patient results within established turnaround times Communicate and document critical and STAT results appropriately Maintain laboratory documentation, reports, and worksheets Manage laboratory inventory and ensure adequate supply levels QualityCompliance Participate in Quality Control (QC), Quality Assurance (QA), and Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives Support laboratory proficiency testing and regulatory compliance Assist in writing and maintaining laboratory procedures Maintain professional development through continuing education Organizational Expectations Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards Demonstrate strong teamwork, communication, and professionalism Follow all safety protocols and workplace guidelines Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality Employee Engagement Participate in service excellence initiatives and department meetings Complete all required training and continuing education on time
Qualifications Education:
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science (required) Certifications (Preferred): MLT (ASCP), MT (ASCP), or MLS (ASCP), or equivalent certification meeting regulatory requirements
Experience:
At least 1 year of generalist laboratory experience preferred SkillsAbilities Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Effective verbal and written communication skills Comfortable using laboratory systems and computer applications Ability to handle moderate physical activity (lifting up to 25 lbs, standing, bending) Why Join Us?
