Job Description

Sleep Technician II Professional/Technical Sycamore B Sycamore Sleep Center PBB Full Time , Night Shift , Mon-Wed 6:30PM-630AM A sleep technician II performs comprehensive sleep testing and analysis, and associated interventions under the general supervision of a sleep technologist and/or the medical director or designee. A sleep technician II can provide supervision of a sleep trainee. Sleep Technician II is directly responsible and accountable to the Sleep Medicine Manager and will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or it's equivalence for performing standard and complex Polysomnographic testing according to Sleep Center standards and practices. The Sleep Technician II will also be responsible for communicating with daytime Sleep Medicine staff . The Sleep Technician II position is eligible for the RPSGT credential from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) if RPSGT Pathway 2, 3 or 4 criteria is met. Clinical hours will start when on-the-job training begins. RPSGT Pathway 2: Healthcare Credential. For candidates with a minimum of 960 hours of experience and who have another healthcare credential. (Credential must be on the BRPT-approved list.) RPSGT Pathway 3: CAAHEP/CoARC Student. For graduates of a CAAHEP or CoARC-accredited polysomnography education program. RPSGT Pathway 4: Focused Training. For candidates with a minimum of 960 hours of experience in the field and who have also completed STAR-designated Focused education, or a combination of Self-Study and Focused 2 education. The Sleep Technician II position is eligible for the Sleep Disorders Specialty (SDS) Examination, which is available to respiratory care professionals who have earned the Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential and have experience or education in the field of sleep medicine.

Pathway:
To qualify for the SDS Examination, you must meet one of the following requirements: Be a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and have completed a CoARC accredited respiratory therapist education program that includes a sleep add-on track; or Be a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) for at least six months prior to applying for the SDS Examination; or Be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for at least three months prior to applying for the SDS Examination. Education and/or Experience Successful completion of a sleep technology program, associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility.
