As a Technician I, you'll receive hands-on training while working alongside experienced team members in a research environment. In this entry-level role, you'll learn essential laboratory and animal care procedures that support important scientific studies and help advance human and animal health. What You'll Do With training and support, you will: Provide humane care and handling of research animals. Assist with daily study activities and laboratory operations. Learn animal handling, sample collection, weighing, sedation, and other study-related procedures. Prepare laboratory areas, equipment, and solutions. Maintain clean and organized workspaces. Collect and accurately document study data. Review records for accuracy and quality standards. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment. Follow established safety, animal welfare, and research procedures. Collaborate with team members to support study objectives. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. No previous experience required. We provide training. Interest in science, research, animal care, or laboratory work. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures. Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new systems. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future. Work Schedule Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, extended shifts, or overtime as needed. Ability to work within established timelines and study schedules. Physical Requirements Lift and move materials, equipment, or animals weighing up to 50 pounds. Stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods. Perform tasks requiring fine motor skills and attention to detail. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Ability to work safely around animals, laboratory equipment, and research materials. Work Environment Research and laboratory setting. Regular interaction with research animals. Exposure to animal allergens, biological materials, chemicals, and laboratory equipment. Noise levels may range from moderate to loud depending on work area.
