Onsite About the Opportunity Adecco Healthcare & Life Sciences is partnering with a leading global technology and life sciences organization on an exciting opportunity for a Scientist II to join an advanced research and development laboratory in Hillsboro. This is a highly hands-on scientific role for someone who enjoys experimental laboratory work, instrumentation, data analysis, troubleshooting, and working alongside scientists and engineers to solve complex technical problems. You'll have the opportunity to work with advanced laboratory systems and develop specialized technical expertise in electron emission, high-vacuum systems, microscopy, experimental measurement, and scientific data analysis . What You'll Do The majority of your time will be spent setting up, conducting, monitoring, and analyzing experiments based on active research priorities. Experimental & Laboratory Work Set up and execute laboratory experiments using advanced scientific and electronic instrumentation. Work with high-voltage power supplies, low-current ammeters, ultra-high-vacuum systems , and other laboratory equipment. Perform thermal imaging and pyrometry measurements while monitoring ongoing experiments. Collect and analyze current/voltage (I/V) curve data from operating electron emitters. Perform noise measurements involving cold-field and Schottky electron emitters. Conduct energy-spread and/or brightness measurements. Use scanning electron microscopes (SEM) for imaging and surface analysis. Support occasional use of focused ion beam (FIB) systems for surface milling, cutting, or shaping. Work with liquid nitrogen for applicable cold-temperature experiments. Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair laboratory equipment as needed. Partner with scientists and engineers to diagnose and resolve equipment issues. Data Analysis & Scientific Development Analyze experimental data to evaluate performance and identify optimal operating characteristics. Apply quantitative methods such as curve fitting and regression to experimental results. Support image processing and other forms of scientific data analysis. Assist with development and improvement of data acquisition and analysis tools. Develop and test laboratory and instrument-control software as project needs require. Support development and characterization of automated electron-source control systems. Document experimental procedures, observations, results, and conclusions accurately. Communicate findings clearly to scientists, engineers, and advanced technology teams. Present scientific work and experimental findings in internal technical forums. Collaboration & Problem Solving Work closely with PhD-level scientists, engineers, and multidisciplinary technical teams. Translate experimental observations into actionable data and recommendations. Troubleshoot unexpected experimental or equipment issues. Adapt experimental approaches based on project priorities and research findings. Contribute to an environment focused on scientific curiosity, technical development, and continuous learning. What We're Looking For Required B.S. in Biological Sciences or a closely related scientific discipline. Strong interest in hands-on experimental research and laboratory science. Ability to collect, analyze, interpret, and communicate scientific data. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate experimental documentation. Ability to work collaboratively with scientists and engineers. Preferred Molecular Biology degree or related background. Laboratory research experience involving experimental design, instrumentation, or quantitative analysis. Experience with scientific data analysis, regression, curve fitting, or image processing. Exposure to microscopy, SEM, FIB, vacuum systems, or other advanced laboratory instrumentation. Experience troubleshooting laboratory equipment or electronic instrumentation. Programming or software-development experience used for data acquisition, analysis, automation, or instrument control. Candidates with a strong biological sciences foundation and hands-on laboratory experience who are interested in expanding into advanced instrumentation and experimental technology are encouraged to apply.
