Job Description

SUMMARY :
This position is primarily responsible for supporting all aspects of prep of oil standard and glass viscometer orders. Duties include blending oil standards, cleaning instruments, preparing labels and documents, and packaging finished goods oil standards and GV in accordance with laboratory procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: Lab technician I must work independently with minimal supervision to successfully complete all duties and responsibilities in two of the areas listed below. Preparation Area Retrieve and process orders from order management system. Analyze data from inventory management software to make production decisions. Prepare all materials needed for production of oil standards. Manage communications with order entry group to coordinate order fulfillment. Maintain inventory of production materials. Maximize the concepts of Lean Manufacturing. Other duties as assigned. Bottling Area Retrieve and complete orders from order management system. Prepare standards by applying appropriate label to the bottle; fill bottles from drums and containers of approved material; place into labeled box with its Certificate/Report of Analysis as per printed customer and internal orders or stock Kanban's. Check drum levels and report to Blending Technician when a drum is too low for pouring. Maintain inventory of production materials Maximize the concepts of Lean Manufacturing. Other duties as assigned. Blending Area Retrieve and complete blending orders from inventory management system. Measure, mix, and monitor temperature of oils during blending process. Utilize equipment to lift and move oil drums. Ensure proper disposal of laboratory waste. Clean and prepare instruments for use in calibration of oils. Maintain inventory of raw materials. Maximize the concepts of Lean Manufacturing. Other duties as assigned. GV Cleaning Area Cleaning of GV (Glass capillary Viscometers) during the calibration process. Maintain cleaning solvents in proper containers, and equipment used in cleaning. Enter appropriate data into LIMS (laboratory information management system). Ensure proper disposal of laboratory waste. Maximize the concepts of Lean Manufacturing. Other duties as assigned. GV Packaging Area Rack viscometers in accordance to the priority list Create Travel cards with all necessary information about the calibration Job Measurement and preparation of certificates and documentation for calibrated GV Attach metal holders to viscometers Packaging of calibrated GV Enter appropriate data into LIMS (laboratory information management system). Transfer calibrated GV to stock shelves. Maximize the concepts of Lean Manufacturing. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
: This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience in a manufacturing environment is desirable. Good communication skills are a must. Must be able to handle routine work.
