We have an opening for a Quality Control Laboratory Technician. This position is temporary, with potential for hiring on. This position performs laboratory experiments with supervision as well as operates and maintains a variety of scientific instruments, and oversees chemical, equipment, materials, and supplies inventory..

Key responsibilities include:

Operates, calibrates, and maintains scientific instruments, including, but not limited to, Karl Fischer instrument, Gas Chromatographs, auto titrator, and UV-VIS spectrophotometers. Performs basic repairs and adjustments to laboratory equipment. Troubleshoots problems with scientific instruments. Keeps maintenance records of all equipment and contacts vendor to perform periodic maintenance as needed. Performs analyses on various raw material, in-process and final product materials. Oversees inventory of chemicals, equipment, materials, and supplies. Ensures sufficient supply of chemicals, materials, and supplies. Submits purchase requisitions for chemicals, materials, and supplies to plant administrative manager for ordering. Stores chemicals, supplies, and materials appropriately. Disposes of chemicals according to established guidelines. Performs laboratory experiments under the supervision of the QA/QC Manager or chemist. Gathers information to understand the scope of assigned experiment prior to beginning the experiment. Follows instructions in the preparation and construction of experimental set-up. Prepares chemical and reagent solutions and dilutions to specifications. Operates, maintains, and calibrates necessary scientific equipment and analytical instruments carefully and safely. Records observations and results of experiment in a detailed, accurate and precise manner in laboratory notebooks. Processes incoming and outgoing sample shipments. Performs laboratory housekeeping in accordance with Generally Accepted Good Laboratory Practices.

Minimum qualifications:

High School Diploma with 3 to 5 years of hands-on work experience in an analytical laboratory with laboratory procedures, lab equipment, and various chemical compounds required Associate degree in science or related field preferred Two semesters college level Organic Chemistry preferred Effective troubleshooting skills to conduct laboratory experiments and maintain laboratory equipment Proficient with computer software applications including Microsoft Office Suite Broad knowledge of chemistry principles Broad understanding of basic scientific laboratory procedures and techniques Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills Familiarity with safe work practices in a lab environment and a strong commitment and knowledge of practicing common health and safety practices and precautions in a chemistry laboratory
