Job Description

Alpha Genesis, Inc. (AGI) is a leading nonhuman primate contract research organization (CRO) supporting biomedical and pharmaceutical research worldwide. We are seeking a Laboratory Research Technician to join our scientific operations team in Yemassee, SC. This role supports ongoing diagnostic testing, colony health monitoring, and preclinical research programs across multiple disciplines. The Laboratory Research Technician performs technical and analytical work in a regulated laboratory environment, contributing to the generation of high-quality data that directly supports sponsor studies and animal health programs.
Responsibilities:
Conduct diagnostic testing for animal health and research studies, including parasitology, bacteriology, serology, hematology, and histopathology assays Collect, process, and document biological samples (blood, tissues, swabs, and other specimens) in accordance with GLP, IACUC, and AGI SOPs Assist in the design, setup, and execution of preclinical protocols under the supervision of veterinarians and study directors Monitor colony health through routine screening and targeted surveillance programs Maintain surgical and post-operative areas in support of ongoing veterinary procedures Operate, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment; assist with troubleshooting as needed Record and manage data in laboratory information systems and prepare concise reports for review Support shipment of diagnostic and research samples in compliance with USDA and IATA regulations Contribute to continuous improvement in laboratory safety, data integrity, and operational efficiency
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in biology, microbiology, animal science, or a related field (required) Experience in a research, diagnostic, or veterinary laboratory (preferred) Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards and
USDA/NIH
animal research regulations (preferred) Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic recordkeeping systems South Carolina driver's license or the ability to obtain one

Strong technical and analytical skills with attention to detail Ability to follow detailed scientific procedures accurately and consistently Comfortable working with nonhuman primates and other laboratory animals Excellent communication and teamwork skills Self-motivated, reliable, and able to adapt to a fast-paced research environment This position is based at AGI's primary research campus in South Carolina. Work is performed in both indoor laboratories and controlled animal areas, with occasional outdoor exposure. Technicians are required to wear PPE, participate in respirator fit testing, and follow all biosafety protocols.
