Full-Time STX Materials is seeking a motivated 1A Hot Mix Laboratory Technician to join our Quality Control team. This position is responsible for sampling, testing, and documenting asphalt materials to ensure compliance with TxDOT specifications. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and takes pride in producing accurate test results that directly impact the quality of our projects. Whether you are already certified or looking to grow your career in asphalt quality control, we offer opportunities for advancement and continued training. Responsibilities Perform TxDOT hot mix asphalt quality control testing. Sample aggregates, asphalt mixtures, and RAP materials. Perform asphalt content testing, gradations, moisture testing, specific gravity testing, and density-related testing. Maintain accurate testing records and complete required documentation. Assist with mix production monitoring and plant quality control. Verify compliance with TxDOT specifications and approved mix designs. Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper calibration. Communicate test results with plant personnel, project management, and quality control supervisors. Follow all company safety policies and laboratory procedures. Work both in the laboratory and at the asphalt plant as needed. Preferred Qualifications Current TxDOT Level 1A Hot Mix Certification (preferred) Experience working in an asphalt laboratory or asphalt plant preferred Understanding of TxDOT specifications and TEX test procedures is a plus Strong attention to detail Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, email) Valid Texas driver's license Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and overtime during paving season Physical Requirements Lift up to 50 pounds Stand, walk, bend, and climb throughout the workday Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to work around heavy equipment and asphalt production facilities What We Offer Competitive pay based on experience and certifications Company-paid training and opportunities for additional TxDOT certifications Health insurance Retirement plan Stable, year-round employment Opportunities for advancement within a growing heavy civil construction company If you're looking for a career where quality matters and your work helps build the roads Texans drive every day, we'd like to hear from you.
